Drugstore Beauty Buys

by April, Sunny and Wendy
Every gal has a few beauty tricks up her sleeve – including go-to budget products that can be found at the local drugstore. Here are some of our personal faves. Please share yours in the comments below!

April
Cetaphil Facial Cleanser – On the bottle it says this cleanser is for normal to oily skin but I find that it works great for my combination/sensitive skin. It’s lightweight, non greasy, washes off easily and doesn’t make my skin feel dry. I’ve seen Cetaphil products mentioned often in magazines like In Style on lists of drugstore go-tos.

Goody hair clips – Goody hair products are a drugstore classic. From hair bands to the infamous banana clips, it’s likely you’ve used a Goody hair accessory at some point. I like the claw clips for sectioning off my hair when trying to achieve a salon quality blow out at home. Durable but inexpensive enough to easily replace when one gets misplaced, these are also great for keeping your hair out of the way when you are using your Cetaphil Cleanser or Ponds Cold Cream.

Ponds Cold Cream – My favorite for makeup removal, a jar of Ponds Cold Cream can be found in any drugstore. This product has been around for over 100 years and I like it because it easily removes makeup, even waterproof mascara, is gentle and contains a moisturizer.

Wet n Wild Megalast nail polish – I love a nail polish that is neutral, shiny, and inexpensive! Even at the drugstore, nail polish prices can be in $7-$10 range. My new go-to brand is Wet-n-Wild Megalast. The polish is a great consistency, long lasting, has a thick curved brush, and at only $2 a bottle, I can get all of my favorite shades. Wet Cement is my current favorite.

OGX Shampoo and Conditioner – This is my most recent drugstore beauty obsession. Never one to spring on fancy shampoos and conditioners from the salon (that money saved goes into the travel fund!), I have been thrilled with all of the OGX products I have tried. I bet you’ve seen these short almost penguin-shaped bottles on the shelves. I have tried the Teetree Mint as well as the Kukui Oil and am beyond satisfied with the products. I feel like my hair is shinier and softer. I catch these on sale for an even better bargain.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes – You binged too many Netflix episodes and it’s way past your bedtime! Everyone fusses that you should never sleep in makeup. These cloths are quick and easy. Go get your beauty rest already.

Oil of Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer with SPF – This lightweight lotion has always worked well for me. I use it on my face and neck every morning and like having some basic daily sun protection (though I’ll add a second sunscreen if I’m going to be at the beach or pool).

Barbasol Shaving Cream – A classic. Such a bargain. Definitely not just for dudes.

Wet n Wild Eyebrow Pencils – Maybe I’m missing something, but can’t imagine why I would need an expensive eyebrow pencil. I find these to be a cheap, reliable option.
