Happy New Year!  Here are my travel goals for 2016!

Portland, Oregon – Portland is always on our list of cities to visit, but has gotten pushed out in our recent visits to the West Coast.  Wendy told us that the Washington Post recently named Portland America’s Best Food City.  We hope to offset our craft beer drinking and Voodoo Donut eating with some hiking to see the beautiful waterfalls in the area.

MJ’s First International Trip – Ok, our first goal is to get her a passport (hey, we did get the pics taken).  THEN, we will plan an international trip for her.  Nothing huge.  Just something to get her feet wet.  Mexico, Canada, maybe the Caribbean.  This will hopefully get her geared up for a bigger international trip the Looks and Leaps family may have in the works!

American Girl Experience – MJ received her very first American Girl Doll from Santa, so visiting an American Girl Store is high on our list this year. I’m sure that Maryellen will travel with us on many future trips, but definitely when we visit a city with an American Girl Doll Store!  Chicago, Mall of America, NYC?  We’ll keep you posted!

Annual Disney Trip – We’ve been to Walt Disney World in Florida the past 2 years in order to experience all of the Fantasyland expansion.  Now that it’s complete and Hollywood Studios is undergoing a major makeover to make room for more Toy Story (yay!) and Star Wars (double yay!) attractions, we have decided to go to the original Disneyland Park this year.  It’s been three years since we’ve visited Anaheim so we are looking forward to seeing what’s new, especially after the big 60th anniversary celebration of 2015. MJ’s stamina has also improved considerably so we are going full on park-hopper this year!

Raleigh, NC – I admit, Raleigh would not have made the list if we hadn’t been gifted a two-night stay with breakfast there.  And yes, we initially did try to trade it for another city.  But now that we are stuck with it happy with it, we plan to visit during the summer and take in the Durham Bulls Triple -A baseball team as well as some of the small-town charm surrounding the city.

Where will you travel in 2016?
