I think it’s safe to say that while Frozen mania has died down considerably, Anna, Elsa, and Olaf will be fixtures of Halloween costume racks for years to come.  And if your little ones are just now jumping on the Frozen bandwagon, take a look at these Halloween projects that just might have Olaf singing about Autumn instead of Summer!

Here are some ways to get you – and your kids – hyped up for upcoming travel.

Take a full moon on a clear night and a waterfall in Corbin, Kentucky and you will get a rare natural phenomenon known as a moonbow.  One of only two places in the world to view a moonbow on a monthly basis, Cumberland Falls is the most recent state park visited by the Looks and Leaps family.   Take into account that we were also going to be there on the night of a blue moon (the second full moon of a calendar month) and you have some serious moonbow madness going on!

New to the airline industry?  Have an immediate relative that’s an airline employee?  Received a buddy pass for airline travel?  Congratulations!  The world awaits!  Where to go first?  The possibilities are endless and enough to make you giddy.  There’s one catch: your flight privileges are designated as “nonrevenue passenger.”  This means you will be flying stand-by, also known as nonrev.  You can fly any where, any time….as long as there are empty seats on the flight.  This can be tricky, but it is far from impossible.  The most important thing is to know what to expect when you’re nonreving.

I’m a teacher so it will come as no surprise that I like to find the educational value in my daughter’s extracurricular activities. I firmly believe that no other activity will educate children in the same way as traveling.  There are the obvious things they can learn when visiting a museum or learning phrases in a new language, but there are so many other things they learn as well.

When it comes to travel in the summer, there is always the weeklong beach getaway in my plans.  I love the beaches on the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic.  But summer travel also means spontaneous getaways.  An impromptu trip to Chicago to check another ballpark off of the list, or maybe a day wandering around in Baltimore, Indianapolis, or Cincinnati.  It is these spur of the moment trips when I am glad that I created a summer travel wardrobe at the beginning of the season.  Creating a summer travel wardrobe takes the stress out of packing for last minute trips so the focus can be on the fun! Small tweaks will be made depending on weather, but these trusty pieces have worked well for me this season.  Take a peek inside my summer travel wardrobe! Continue reading
